A facelift procedure can be a very exciting event. Very few cosmetic procedures allow you to look dramatically younger in just a few hours, with a time-tested technique.
Before Your Facelift
If you are preparing for a facelift procedure at The Cosmetics Program, we want to make sure you are informed about what to expect and ready for your surgery day. During your personal consultation, you’ll have a chance to discuss all the ins and outs of the procedure and ask your surgeon any questions about the surgery, the healing process, and your anticipated results. Make sure you take a look at our facelift Before & After photos, and have realistic expectations about your appearance after surgery. Make a firm commitment to follow your plastic surgeon’s pre-op and post-op instructions to ensure maximum safety, minimize risks, and ensure nice healing.
During Your Facelift Appointment
After receiving anesthesia, your cosmetic surgeon will make small incisions around the hairline at various strategic points. He will tighten the skin and muscles of the face, minimizing and eliminating certain wrinkles and areas of sagging. Excess skin is gently removed to eliminate droopiness caused by aging. Fatty tissue may be remove from under the chin or other areas where it is interfering with your facial contours, using the liposuction technique. A blepharoplasty, facial implant, or brow lift may be performed along with your facelift for dramatic results.
The facelift procedure may take up to 5 hours, or longer if you choose to have additional procedures performed at the same time.
After Your Facelift Surgery
Facelift patients can expect a certain amount of soreness and discomfort. Facial skin may experience loss of sensation after surgery, but this is only temporary. Do not worry about discoloration, or slight bruising as this is also to be expected during healing.
Remember that the healing process is gradual, and you should notice improvement on a daily basis. Your final results will be clear at about the six month mark. If you have any concerns during the healing process, please report them to your cosmetic surgeon immediately.
