Before
At The Cosmetics Program, our compassionate and attentive staff and breast surgeons will do everything possible to make sure your experience is a positive one. Our priority is to ensure all patients undergoing procedures are thoroughly informed and ready for the next step.
Your experienced Geisinger breast surgeon will answer any questions you may have about your surgery day, and what to expect following the procedure. We provide peace of mind with a comprehensive explanation of the process, the technology used, cost breakdown and financing, the results your doctor has achieved in the past, and how to heal properly after surgery.
During
Your breast surgeon will go over the steps one more time the day of your surgery to make sure you fully understand the procedure. After application of local or general anesthesia, your skilled breast surgeon begins by making a small incision, and then places your implant pocket strategically behind your breast. Your incision, made in the armpit, breast fold, navel, or areola, is placed for maximum discreetness and minimum scarring.
Breast enlargement procedures can take from 1 – 3 hours, depending on the complexity. Make sure you bring a friend or family member to drive you home after the procedure.
After
You can expect some pain and discomfort following your breast surgery. Minimize discomfort by following your physician’s rest instructions and filling any pain medications they prescribe.
It is important to restrict your activities as ordered to make sure the incision sites heal correctly and your implants stabilize. The breast surgeon will ask you to return for stitches removal within a week to ten days. As every patient will heal on a different time table, your doctor will monitor your progress and make recommendations based on indications of healing and your lifestyle. Again, it is crucial that you follow all post-op instructions very carefully to ensure great healing and beautiful results.
