The LASIK Process

On your LASIK surgery day, you will be given numbing eye drops so you won’t feel a thing. The LASIK flap is created by your LASIK surgeon as he uses a small microkeratome to gently create the corneal flap. The excimer laser is then carefully positioned at your cornea, and then used to reshape the cornea into its ideal shape. The corneal reshaping is usually accomplished in less than a minute. The corneal flap is put back into place and the corneal tissue begins the healing process on its own.

Visual recovery in rapid after the LASIK vision correction procedure. Many patients can read signs on the wall only seconds after completion! There may be slight fluctuations in your vision as the cornea is undergoing healing, and patients can expect to feel mild discomfort and “scratchiness” in the eye.
